Something woke me up at 0700 this morning and as I glanced at the alarm clock I thought to myself, 'Matt comes home soon!' I was still really tired so I fell back asleep and just after 0900 I heard the doorbell ring, it's actually more like an annoying buzzer that I swear is going to give me a heart attack one of these days. I jumped out of bed and ran to the door, I knew it was Matt. As soon as I opened the door he was ready for a hug and then he had to pee...so romantic! I was happy to have him home and since he was exhausted, he hit the shower and then went straight to bed to take a nap while I made German Apple Pancakes and coffee as a Welcome Home meal. He was still on Eastern Standard Time for most of the day but I tried my best to keep him awake while I worked on my Blog and did a few loads of laundry.
At around 1900 our next door neighbors came over with delicious homemade chili and rice. We haven't hung out with them in ages and it was so nice to enjoy dinner together and catch up. They were the first people we met when we moved in and they have three wonderful children who are so polite and mature.

I headed to bed around 2300 so I could try and get some sleep before work in the morning. Matt was still playing Call Of Duty, I have no idea what time he came to bed. It looks like things are pretty much back to normal around the Lyman house.
If you woke up breathing, congratulations! You have another chance. ~Andrea Boydston

Not sure where I am supposed to put this, so I am putting it here.
ReplyDeleteI "seized the day," as you say, yesterday when I was woken by my mother calling to wish me a happy birthday. I was wondering why she called me so early on a Sunday since I had forgotten what day it was.
After she reminded me it was my birthday, I decided to only do things for Warren the entire day.
I set out on a hike through the forest for about 3 and a half hours. The weather wasn't perfect, but it was very enjoyable none the less. I brought my pack with me, even though I knew I wouldn't need anything in it, but I wanted to get used to the added weight for the longer hikes/bike rides. It weighs about 40 pounds as is.
When I got home, I dug the tools out of the basement and finished a few projects I had started weeks ago. I made too custom sheaths for two knives I recently purchased. Yes, I am a knife addict.
Afterward, my 6 year old neighbor, Anna, invited me over to play with Play-Doh. Sounded fun to me so I took the invite. Anna's mom, Kveta, was the second person to remember my birthday. After an hour of making random Play-Doh sculptures, Anna and Kveta came out of the kitchen with a cupcake with a single candle in it. It was the closest thing I have had to a birthday cake in well over a decade. Kveta is like my second mom, and even calls me son. It is weird since I am older than her. I guess I am still very immature, but I don't care.
We then ordered pizza and chicken wings. We ate them while drinking Dunkel beer and watching their collection of old "The Muppet Shows." It brought me back to my childhood. I could even remember the names of all the muppets.
The sun had set by this time, and I decided to go home and kill some people on a video game called "Bulletstorm." A friend I hadn't talked to in years was online and I joined his team for the mayhem. We caught up on things in our personal and work lives and slaughtered and got slaughtered for about three hours. We had to go to a private chat channel, since the others on our team kept bitching about us talking so much about non game relate stuff. Wehn midnight hit, I decided to log off and told my buddy good bye. He said "wait a second bitch. You ain't getting off before I wish you a happy birthday. You thought I forgot didn't you jerk off?"
I thanked him and went to bed.
All in all, I can't think of a better way I could have spent my birthday without leaving the city or country.
Warren Peace
One of my favorite things about North Carolina is the change of stations. In Mexico city, we didn't have that. It was always nice. The nights in December are cold over there but not as cold as here. It's hot over there but nothing like here and there's no humidity either.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I think that the change of stations enable me to seize the day when the weather allows me to spend the day outside working in my yard or just walking. Here in NC, I don't take for granted the beautiful days with blue sky and no humidity. I think I appreciate them more and that makes me feel good. When days are like that I work very hard in my yard. I make the best of my time pulling out weeds, picking up sticks and planting new stuff. I think I seize those days by being thankful and appreciative of the opportunities I have.
All this work makes me tired, so again NC weather helps me feel better by allowing me to rest during the winter. I seize the day in those cold days by reading like crazy and work on home improvements.
I hope this is what it's needed to post here. If "it ain't", let me know. :)
