And then there was light

Day 9
Sunday, January 09, 2011

Today I changed a very difficult light bulb above my bathroom sink. This was a “difficult” one because I had to stand on a step stool, use a mirror to see the top of the light which I could still barely reach while standing on my step stool. I had to push the light bulb holder out so I could remove the glass cover and change the tiniest light bulb I had ever seen. I did this with no help and without an instruction manual and I felt invincible. Sometimes it's the little things that make a big difference.

This may not seem like a huge feat to most of you but if you're like me, you expect your husband or the man of the house to do certain things like take out the trash, open pickle jars, and change the light bulbs. It's funny how once I got married I just assumed I wouldn't have to do certain things anymore. Sometimes I want these things done and Matt isn't around or isn't in a very helpful mood. Now I try to do everything myself, just like I did when I was a single college girl and I feel pretty good when a fellow female asks for my assistance with simple things like jump starting a car. So yes, this did feel like seizing the day to me!
