I smell fish

Day 13
Thursday, January 13, 2011
My husband and I lived in Sneads Ferry, North Carolina for the past three years before we moved to Germany. Sneads Ferry is known as a “Fishing Village” and is located just five minutes from Topsail Island. They have the freshest North Carolina seafood in Onslow County.

We miss many things about living in the states and seafood is definitely one of them; fresh, local, affordable seafood to be specific. We used to be able to pick up a few pounds of shrimp and a basket of blue crabs right from the boat docks, take them home and enjoy a meal fit for a king.

Seafood is pretty expensive here and not very easy to come by. Luckily, the commissary has Wild Caught shrimp from the U.S.A. in the frozen section and I found some tilapia and stuffed scallops to go along with them. We feasted on the seafood and talked about all the good times we had at the local shrimp and seafood festivals in North Carolina. I’m pretty sure when our three year tour of duty is up, we’ll be moving back to Sneads Ferry again. http://www.sneadsferrynorthcarolina.com/
