My brain was fried after a stressful day at work today. I decided to head to the gym for a one hour cardio session before I headed home to clean dishes and make dinner. I used this time to reflect on my recent life choices and I decided to be thankful for everything I have in my life. While working out to Britney Spears (I may be a little obsessed) and the Black Eyed Peas, I realized how wonderful it is that I’m even able to walk, let alone run.
If I haven’t mentioned it before, I am in need of disc replacement surgery on my lower back but the medical insurance we have through the military (Tricare) will not cover it and I have no way to pay for it out of pocket so I just live with the pain every day. It wasn't until we moved to Germany that I even knew what was wrong with my back. A MRI recently showed that I have two "dead" discs between my 3rd & 4th, and 4th & 5th vertebrae.
Sometimes the pain gets so bad I don’t want to get out of bed and sometimes I feel well enough to run a couple of miles (jog & walk mostly).
I’m learning how to diet and exercise to make my body strong enough to handle the pain when it comes. Life is too short to live it in fear…
Time! where didst thou those years inter, Which I have seene decease?
