A Day in Downtown Stuttgart

Day 17
Monday, January 17, 2011

Since we were all off for the President's Day holiday and Jessica, our friend Warren's girlfriend, only had one week left in Germany, we went sightseeing around Stuttgart together.

Stuttgart Markhalle

Our first stop was the Markthalle, an indoor fresh market full of plants, fruit, vegetables, meats, cheeses, wines, and wares for us to buy. I bought some large dates that cost about 50 cents a piece which I thought was rather expensive, but they were the freshest I have ever had so I didn't mind forking out a bit more than usual.

Since we met up in downtown Stuttgart, we were right in the middle of everything. we walked around for hours checking out the old and new castles of King Wilhelm of Württemberg, the TV tower, and plenty of shops.

The day was sunny and a little warmer than usual for this time of year. We saw some protesters and street performers before heading to Sophie’s Brauhaus for dinner where Jessica and I both ate the Teller-schnitzle.
